The new YMCA model at Geneva Lakes Family YMCA
A Interactive Wall Gym was put in the YMCA as a major effort to add a wide variety of programs and services geared towards youth and families with a fun factor for all! The YMCA will be offering after-school programs, camps, events, parties, and much more to the Lake Geneva, Wisconsin community and surrounding areas.
Fitness Gaming and Exergaming have long been a part of the YMCA community across the country. Traditionally, these have been designated areas for Tweens with a variety of single station games from DDR to Touch Walls. But, the YMCA noticed that these areas were not utilized throughout the day and were not used for multiple programs.
The new YMCA Model is to transform multi-purpose spaces that offer program options for all members. A product like the MultiBall Interactive Playground turns the space into a complete Technology solution. MultiBall offers a giant projection screen, immersive lighting, powerful sound and engaging activities.
“We use the Interactive Wall as a Learning Platform while offering physical activity. We have the young kids early in the day learn movement and social skills, we use for senior fitness classes, women’s boot camp programs, and it is a huge success for our after-school programs because of the wide variety of programs. In the summer, this space is packed with campers and staff rotating through the games and challenges set by our staff. And, for movie nights – it is simply awesome to watch a movie on a 19’ screen with great sound.” Sherri Baker, Associate Executive Director
